The school isn't willing or able to offer the correct pay for the job. So they found a strikebreaker of sorts. Fair enough I suppose, but once you start undercutting the pay by hiring from abroad, fewer people are going to invest in the education and training domestically. This is a danger when capitalism is short-sighted rather than big picture. This doesn't mean that the government needs to raise the minimum wage. That makes employers have to pay $15 for a job that's only "worth" $8 (plus all the extra crap they have to pay to employ you). It sucks to work your ass off and to only be worth $8, but if they can pay a robot/kiosk to do your job for $8/hour then that's all it's worth. And they'll start paying the robot rather than you if the robot asks for $8 and you need $15... plus workman's comp, etc. Raising the minimum wage doesn't fix that. We need to add jobs that have higher value. Stuff robots won't be able to do for $8 an hour within the next 30 years. We need to promote trade schools.
