  1.  @prakharpant1711  PragerU has seemed to have made an active attempt to portray black people in a good light. Taking a lot of black conservative voices. Maybe in part to deflect accusations of racism, but I think moreso to show a certain group of white privileged progressives as being the main instigators, and trying to show black people that there are other ways to think. I haven't watched every video so maybe there are counterexamples, that's just the impression I get recently. So it doesn't seem like they'd purposefully choose a black kid to do it if they had a choice. But since he went ahead and went full karen on them, it was too good to pass up and they posted it. That's my impression.

  2. I don't know.... seems like they'd use a white kid if it was staged. But I don't knbw. As for the cops... These are cops responding to a non-violent threat on a university campus. They are possibly campus police. Their job is by and large to go write up reports about minor disturbances, stolen items and loud parties with people who are by and large nonviolent. Even if they're drunk or on drugs, they probably aren't armed. When officers can go into a relatively safe environment for a relative non-issue, they can go in thinking "shit, we've gotta give the freedom of speech spiel to some idiot again" rather than wondering if the guy might have a bunch of priors and willing to go down in a blaze of glory rather than be arrested..

  4.  @tappersuzie  Because the impetus of them chasing him down was they had previously had stuff stolen, and he was apparently on camera looking inside a residence under construction. (as someone in the construction business, it'd be nice if we could just leave our tools on the job every night instead of having to lock everything away, on account of stuff constantly being jacked if left out, so I just want you to be clear that stealing from construction sites is common and so anyone wandering around a site is suspicious. Even if in many cases it would be totally innocent, it's suspicious, and so for your own safety, please stay out.) Someone called 9-1-1, seemingly before the shooting, just to report they saw him coming out of the construction site. So, if he actually was stealing things, even if this time he was just scoping things out then it's easy to say he was up to no good, and when confronted, knowing that he was at risk of burglary charges, put up a fight that resulted in his death. If he wasn't stealing anything, then while he was trespassing, most people don't make much of casual trespassing and he wouldn't have felt that he had really done anything wrong. So he would be looking to de-esculate things when confronted. In this case it could be said that they had some cause to try to catch him, and they were likely the instigators that escalated things resulting in his death but this should probably result in a low charge at most that may or may not stick depending on the details. And, finally, a scenario that doesn't seem to be true. Which is that he was really just jogging along, and some guys came up and shot him. Then this would actually be a case of someone minding their own business, doing the right thing, and basically getting lynched. Then I think it would qualify as an actual hate crime, premeditated, etc. AND, again, the case is pending. They will presumably have a lot more information than we do, and will hopefully make a just decision. Not that I have to AGREE with their decision, but since one is pending I'll at least wait for it.

  8. It doesn't matter how you should have done things. The title is "it's time to grow up". In other words, make today the first day in a new way of doing things. I get you, it's hard. I'll spare you my pile of excuses that still prevent me from getting anywhere in life. I'm trying to get past them though.

  9. Breana Taylor is the counter example of someone doing things right. Though that seems to be pure incompetence, not malice per se. The police don't need to be defunded for us to ban no knock warrants, which should have no place in US society.

  10.  @richierich1  Because the internet was burping and I sent what I had before I lost it and ate dinner while it was resetting. Don't mistake no comment as a statement of no comment. But Tamir Rice was probably an accident. I would hope the police would be able to hold their trigger finger a little longer. But their side is understandable and we don't have good enough footage to make a call one way or the other. While I think we should be able to have guns in public- even real ones... the reality is my parents bought me nerf guns to play with at the park and front yard for a reason. They aren't anti-gun. (I'm not aware of what info we have for Crawford, but seems it was a similar issue) But a few flaws in the system were highlighted and violent incidents between the police and public have been trending down in recent years.
