A bunch of groups performed. It'd be like going to a rock/metal festival and throwing a bottle of piss at 50 cent.

Kpop is more R&B than electronic anyway. Jpop runs more toward rock and electronic. Of course there will be exceptions.

Dominic Francis Who knows. That doesn't mean it didn't happen. Reading Festival.

heyohay twice aoa And J-pop has a billion ballads too. EVERYONE has ballads. It's the other stuff that is actually identifying.

heyohay twice aoa With rare exceptions, I don't like ballads. I'd never showcase how good a pop group is with a ballad (I may, with a solo artist or band though), since I think the point of a pop group is to showcase energy.

heyohay twice aoa I don't really know how the system works enough to dispute it. If "band" style groups have the same contract rules, debts and restrictions as idol groups or not. I think when K-pop is being referred to in the West it usually means those in the style of BIGBANG or SNSD though. If they have the same rules, stuff like CNBlue would basically be the same, even if there's a bit of distinction in sound and style. If they aren't under the same rules though then they really shouldn't be brought up as you'd never bring up SCANDAL or whatever in a discussion of J-pop, especially if the focus was on idols. That's a straight up band. But I'm focusing just on the idols when I say K-pop leans toward R&B and J-pop towards electronic and rock in their sound. Everyone has their own R&B, electronic, and rock groups and artists- I was comparing the basic sound behind boy and girl song and dance units.

...??? Babymetal?

Yeah, but the companies do invest a lot of money in them. That's why K-pop is so much "better" than J-pop. They've gone through years of dancing, singing, foreign language study.... surgeries even, etc... before they even start bringing in income. J-pop they have like... 6 months... maybe? There has to be something in it for the company. The whole system is obviously rotten though.

A lot of groups were performing. Girls' Generation was the new upstart group at the time, within a year of debuting. Jealousy and rumors, trashy defensive fans of the other groups...

There are always fan wars. There are always haters. Almost everyone that's not a fan hates Bieber right? But look up antifan. What do you get? Bieber, Twilight, and K-pop. And two of those may be justified. =P There are rude fans and rude comments in American pop and J-pop as well, particularly if perusing 2chan or whatever, but it seems to have permeated much deeper into K-pop culture. I hope they can turn it around, it's one of the most off-putting things about K-pop.

Also, yes, BSB is better. This is fact. =P

If you're not familiar at all... Girls Generation, 2NE1, Big Bang to get the overview... Personally I like AOA and 9Muses. More a J-pop fan though, so I'm sure a K-pop fan can give a big variety of stuff.

omww savage Consider much of that stuff J-rock. Which is fine to like them. J-rock is awesome. But I dunno, seems kinda unfair to pit pop groups against them.

Apparently not much, as far as I can find. A lot of K-pop fans just suck. Some thing or another happened with fans or something, and since SNSD had just debuted recently, they were an easy target for the mob mentality.
