I guess that speech gave some solace and self respect to those who took part in the atrocities in Ukraïne.

@mrvron still, Russia does not respect that Ukraïne is a country in its own right. Ukraïne seeks its allies. Agree or not to what they choose, but still it is their right.

@GaliullinRustem take care of the nazi’s in your own country. They are small minority. A feather made into five hens. Most ukraïnians are far from being nazis.

@gfan83 I only ask that the Russians leave Ukraïne in peace. Is that too much to ask?

@gfan83 there are different perspectives to that. How about the school that was bombed by Ruzzian bombs in Lugansk? Can you defend that? Why do you think that all will be well if that happens? Do you think that Russia should rule all the territory of slavonians, and resisting that is wrong?

From a slavophile perspective, and from people who grew up in the Soviet Union and the Russian Empire it makes some weird kind of sense. You find it in Russian writers too. The most prominent of Russian writers had military background. The speech is face saving to those who took part in the atrocities. I think it is important to understand, although not be fooled by it.

@mrvron do you think we agree on everything NATO does? We have the freedom not to agree. I don’t support this special operation and the atrocities done in the name of fighting nazi’s, when people get shot in the backhead for saying that there are no nazi’s here. Wrongdoings from NATO will not justify this «special operation». That is sidetracking the issue. If Russia acts so aggressively against a neighboring country, then don’t be surprised by seeking a coalition. Ukraïne gave up its nukes in order to have peace with Russia. NATO-countries do have a say in whether they want nukes on their territory.
