What struck me when visiting a monastery outside of Odesa. I saw a list over sins to confess. One of them was having been cruel to animals. I mean in Norway were I live, of course there are different opinions and there are also laws to protect animals from cruelty, but nothing I know of in a religions sense. Maybe the animals were killed in order not to suffer alone. I don’t know how russians think about this. But ukraïnians do have a conscientious relation to animals.
