  1. Sugar coating, like Disney does, is not appealing to me. Like in the «Little mermaid», in HC Andersen’s original, the mermaid has to cope with jealousy, and resign. Sometimes that is a necessary choice to make, in order to behave in an ethical way. So I never watched that movie. Winning or behaving ethically do not always go together, a harsh truth that prepares the reader for the contradictions of life. The sugar coated ending does not.
