@ThatGuy-bz2in Gold's practical uses make up a tiny portion of the demand. Most is used for jewellery and as an investment, and both uses are vulnerable as people stop spending money on luxury goods and realise precious metals aren't good investments. Stocks are way better.

@whitejodeci8926 "Backed by nations" What happens if businesses refuse to accept the US dollar, or charge too much for it? The US government won't be able to do anything. Except military intervention, but that would cause more problems than it solves. I think money is for spending, and wealth should be stored in the stock market, where it's backed by real, tangible stuff. And crypto excels at decentralised, secure, transparent transactions.
