  1. That could never work. Liquidating a company will always get less money compared with the amount spent to buy the company and the amount which could be made selling the company. The only way it would work is if a private-equity firm breaks down a conglomerate into its individual brands, e.g. separating its cloud computing business from its online retailer (looking at you, Amazon). And even then, it would only work if the company was previously mismanaged.
