  1. Remember, companies want you to pirate their content. It's very easy for you to get caught, and when you do, the company will be able to make much more money suing you than they would've made if you paid for the content legitimately. Or more likely, they'll just send you a bill with the amount of money they expect to make from the lawsuit, and drop the case once you pay, so neither party has to pay legal fees and both you and them end up with more money at the end of it. Or, even more likely, they'll send you a bill for more money than they expect to make from a lawsuit, because they know you are unlikely to know that you'd probably be better off taking it to court. Whatever they do, they make more money than they would've if you bought the product legitimately. That's why they do this stuff: to get people to fight back by pirating their content, so that they can make more money suing you or settling out of court than they would've selling their stuff.

  2. ​ @marble_wraith That makes no difference. Sure, your descendants will be able to more easily access your e-books, but it will still be illegal for them to do so.

  3. ​ @shadowninja6689 At least Netflix's ad tier was cheaper. Prime's ad tier is the same price as the current subscription, and the ad-free tier is $3/month more expensive. They must have figured out most people use Prime for the shipping. So they realised they could make more money with ads. But now no-one's going to use it, because the software's a real hassle, and it now has ads. (Strange that a movie company (Disney) could make easier-to-use software than a technology company. But Netflix still has the best software on any streaming service, though Disney+ has the better movie library.)
