I remember going to a holiday home where there was an air conditioner with the cold side facing into the room, and the hot side facing the floor. It took me a little while to realise that it was actually heating the room up. But once I found out, someone else had to sleep in that room. (I made a suggestion which would've allowed the whole family to sleep in rooms with an air conditioner whilst separating my father from the rest of the family - he's a mouth-breather and snores as a result - nose-breathers don't snore; the family rejected my proposal so one of them had to sleep in the room with the rubbish AC.)
