Yeah I watched Drach’s video on the South American Dreadnought arms race and was thinking “Wait Brazil sold it because the country wasn’t going to war with its neighbors anymore.”

For the time yes. But keep in mind that that mostly applies if the guns are capable of independent elevation.

It was the RP-3 rockets that really pushed into that class of Agincourt firepower. The Hurricane’s 12 gun layout was also used on the Spitfire because individually machine guns were weaker than cannons. The real counterpart it HMS Agincourt would be the American B-25 with 10 machines plus eight rockets plus as 75mm gun all facing forward. That isn’t including 3,000 pounds and the four machine guns that be brought to bear at the rear.

They joined more because of railroads actually. The Berlin-Baghdad Railway was vital to the Ottomans if they could finish it. And when your buddy is in a state of war with this vital railway unfinished you would be likely to join if only to make sure it gets finished. Not to mention there is the little detail that Germany was the only major power in Europe that piss off the Ottomans at any point in their history. HMS Agincourt isn’t even the most Egregious thing the Brits did to the Ottomans. That would probably be taking Egypt out from under them.

The Americans had it easy. They just set it on fire.

Or Italy joining the Central Powers with a ship named after the Battle of Lepanto. Or if America sent the USS Harold E. Holt to help the Aussies.

Honestly that makes it sound less like a battleship more of a battlecruiser. That or it used the all or nothing armor scheme where only armor was surrounding the vital areas (magazines and machinery spaces).

I think it is called that because it was a big decisive military victory for the British. Both sides expected to defeat the enemy fleet in a single big battle like that. It is why Jutland was the only time the dreadnoughts fought each other. It is same logic for British reusing the name Ark Royal constantly since it was the ship that destroyed the Spanish Armada.

Generally particularly in the final days of Battleships nine was the evident answer.

I figured the ship wouldn’t break in half from a full broadside. After all the Iowa-class has a heavy broadside by weight but had no issues.
1
No the answer is as much as you get on it without capsizing the ship.
1
It was over a river. And it was mostly between Argentina and Chile with Brazil stuck needing a larger navy since they were the third major power in the region and was inevitably going to get involved if there was a war.

The answer to how many guns is yes.
1
Mostly because British Submarines didn’t do much except for May Island.
