Because you actually need the actor for specific scenes. Stunt doubles aren't going to be good at doing scenes that are more about dialogue.

John Rhys-Davis has the same allergy and he filmed for over a year in the stuff.
1
John Rhys-Davis filmed a twelve-hour movie with this allergy.
1
@thesonofdormammu5475 NDA's are a thing and don't forget she was almost crippled so that probably was more important to most of the crew.
1
Really John Rhys-Davis would like a word.
1
I think he also got heatstroke with the first one too.
1
@GingerZombie29 He had it good compared to Chris Pratt. At least he had an open-faced helmet. Pratt's Star-Lord helmet in the first movie at least was actually bolted into place around his head and needless to say it was claustrophobic.
1
@zilvertron Keaton isn’t really comparable to Chris Pratt. Also if memory serves, they actually had to recast the Tin Man because the first one had worse allergies and the second one did from his allergy to the paint they used
1
Personal choice. John Rhys-Davis has the same allergy but it didn't stop from filming Lord of the Rings.
1
Well this is the same show that almost crippled this same actress.
1
Maybe Gotham it isn't an arrowverse and instead is a show about setting up Batman's Rogues Gallery in the years when he was still a kid with the main focus also being on Jim Gordon.
1
Daniel Radcliffe was allergic to contacts so they just didn't bother trying have him wear them just to give the green eyes of Harry Potter in the book.
1
@wesss9353 Just mute actually as she heard what John was saying.
1
@zombieninjatedsmith1301 Well that movie had assassins in every shape and size. One of the best scenes is the montage where the cuts between John fighting different assassins one of which was built like a sumo wrestler and the other that wasn't that much bigger than Ruby bit still gave John a hard time because of her use of martial arts (people size isn't everything particularly with some martial arts forms) and a suppressed pistol hidden inside a working violin.
1
@zombieninjatedsmith1301 Martial Arts isn't merely about size.
1
@zombieninjatedsmith1301 Not all martial arts are the same.
1
@wesss9353 The film gives no indication she is deaf. That is the last thing you want an assassin to be.
1
No.
1
John Rhys-Davis a twelve-hour movie with the same allergy.

There are things called NDA agreements you can't say anything until they expire. And this isn't the first something like this happened. The lead actor of the Sci-Fi series Babylon 5 left after season 1 due to his mental illness but he and show runner JMS were tight-lipped with the latter only revealing the reason after the actor died as per their informal agreement.
1
Daniel Radcliffe actually had an allergic reaction when they tried to give him contacts so he could have green eyes in the first Harry Potter movie. They just dropped trying to give him the green eyes.
1
I prefer she not be Stephanie Brown.
1
I wouldn't mock someone's allergies. The show itself is fair game.
1
@Kylorin235 Honestly I am more surprised it wasn't the spinal injury. I would quit any production that almost cripples me.
1
Not every actor can do that. For example, the reason Daniel Radcliffe didn't have contacts so he could have Harry's green eyes from the book is he had an allergic reaction to the contact lenses. Of course, I think forcing him to wear them when he is still a child actor is probably against child labor laws.
