I don't get it. We already women directors who got oscars and actors of color as well. I am sorry it is not discrimination if they don't win every year.

@gunnar6674 Yep that is the point. Arthur even spares Gary latter in the movie because he was the only person who was nice to him. I still admitted I laughed at Randall's joke because the fact actually said it to his face meant it went from horrible joke to a funny one.

I can imagine and quote my other favorite live-action Joker it would be like. "If I tell the press tomorrow that a like a gang-banger will got shot or a truckload will be blown up, nobody panics because it's all part of the plan, but if I tell them that one little mayor will die, then everyone loses their minds." Replace the gang-banger and soldiers with typical Oscar-bait films nobody saw, the mayor with Joker and the death with Oscar wins.

People will think it is a remake though. I think The Man Who Laughs or The Killing Joker will work as subtitles.

@Mookie I don't what is the bigger crime, Thanos not getting nominated in either Infinity War and Endgame despite the star of the latter, or Christian Bale, multiple time nominee and a great actor not getting nominated for playing Ken Miles in Ford Vs Ferrari despite it being one of his best roles yet.

Personally, I think it is a tie between Joker and Ford Vs Ferrari, but I want Joker to win because I doubt another comic book movie will the chance win best picture in my lifetime.

@Mookie You really think that all of the movies in the MCU are kid-friendly. Infinity War and Endgame are two biggest cases you let see those movie they will the theater in tears. I always hated the idea comic book movies are only for kids that idea should have died with The Dark Knight Trilogy.

@Mookie I never said that I cried during either of those I said that the kids you claim the MCU is aimed towards would be. Endgame was also good the only trash movie they made so were Iron Man 3 and Captain Marvel.

Yeah a good movie 9.5/10 as I still kinda bugged by the change from Arkham Asylum to Arkham State Hospital. Personally, I think it is tied for being the best movie of 2019 with Ford Vs Ferrari, but I hope Joker wins since it would be a once in a lifetime thing.

@colleen4ever There were but we still have one female director who got a best picture. As Jeremy said in the video the other women directors need to make better movies. Plus the focus solely on the directors forgets that movies are a collaborative effort everyone from the director to the writer to the caterer plays a role in getting a movie the best picture win. Wikipedia doesn't list the directors for the best picture nominated movies they list the producers and there a quite a few female producers who got nominated in the last two years.

@colleen4ever 1917 is good, but I honestly think the fact that never got released where I live until last weekend would means I don't think it should win. I loved the movie, but I don't want other studios to try release more movies in limited theaters near the end of the year to get into that year's Oscars rather than wait for January to role around hope to get the next show.
