  1. Well the outlets that got ignored included Kotaku and other outlets known for their bias based on politics. In the case of Kotaku, Bethesda (the people who actually picked the outlets) blacklisted them long ago from early access because they leaked content about Fallout 4.

  2. Before all these mergers Rotten Tomatoes was a review aggregator. In other words it was place where reviews done by other people were collected to get a consensus.

  3. UEG also mentioned that Fox Interactive Media at one point own the site. That is the video game branch of 20th Century Fox. Disney now owns Fox so they would have a share in the company if Fox interactive kept a stake in the company like the others

  7.  @-Keith-  Not really it depends on the critic Siskel and Ebert were well respected for a reason. Critics have things called opinions just like everybody else. And you comment is an inaccurate as there are critics such as Roger Ebert who OP mentioned who defends mediums other don't. In particular Roger Ebert defended animation.
