@jamesevans886 Okay that does help explain my confusion. If there were no minimum requirements by the Kremlin yeah that would cause issues. I specifically didn’t think the Coast Guard was relevant to bring up in this conversation as you seemed to be talking about the Army and not any naval forces. In addition, we had a full-time navy well-before World War II so I don’t think the Coast Guard is as important to bring up.

No that is because offering violent criminals the chance to use deadly weapons is asking for a bunch of Russian Officers being fragged.

The 60 mm mortar is still service in the US and other countries.

Well to be fair there was little they could except that by late World War II. The Luftwaffe only existed on paper they didn't have any fuel and most of the troops were either too young or too old.

Doesn't sound like a good excuse. In the US before Korean War that was hour our Army operated. It was the national guards funded and trained by the states and they would be mobilized as a singular army when war came. It never gave us any major issues before and the only reason we changed to having a permanent standing army was because we demoblized the army a little too quickly after World War II.
