Well the Jedi did have a few Civil Wars in the past but it always against other Dark Side Users who were former Jedi. First you had the Force Wars that created the modern Jedi Order when their precursor organization the Jed'aii were divided between the Light and Dark side users, next you had the Great Schism between the Jedi Order and the Legions of Lettow which is the same story the Jedi were fighting dark side users. Then you had the Second Great Schism also called the Hundred-Year Darkness between the Jedi and the Dark Jedi who tried to play god and later formed the Sith Order. Then there was the Jedi Civil War from KOTOR between the Jedi and Revan's Sith Empire where almost all the Sith in his ranks were Jedi and Republic officers who served under Revan and Malak during the Mandalorian Wars.

@jollyroger195 The Dark Side doesn't offer true immortality. Sith Spirits typically have to be bound to specific locations with little influence outside of them. Force Ghosts can appear anytime anywhere.
