@JimmyThree-Balls No it didn't the majority of the changes were significant improvements from the book. Bilbo has a more active role in An Unexpected Journey compared to the book where he was dead weight until Gandalf leaves and he has to take charge. The inclusion of the Dol Guldor subplot was both from Tolkien's own writings, made Gandalf's departure not be a plot contrivance, and it allowed us to have Christopher Lee reprise his role as Saruman before he was corrupted. Bard was also introduced earlier in the film which gives us time to see his character when in the book he literally only appears went the plot requires him to be present. Also the book was basically a bunch of random encounters on the way to the Lonely Mountain while the film provides the persistent threat of Azog the Defilier. Plus the book made a serious mistake, in my opinion, skipping much of the Battle of the Five Armies particularly the death of Thorin who was the real main character if we are being perfectly honest.

I wouldn't say it makes us immoral. It just makes it easier for immoral people to act. But that same principle applies to good people.

@Juggs009 Except you realize most of the changes were significant improvements over the book. I have read the book and it reads more like a bedtime fairy tale (And I am talking about the reprints where Bilbo steals the ring not the original version where Gollum gave it as a prize for winning the game of riddles) and thus the plot is not the most cohesive thing in the world.

@Mstrskeletor89 I think a better example is the scene where Gimli talks about Dwarf women it was adlibbed by John Rhys-Davies but everything he mentions comes from the appendix.

@JimmyThree-Balls No I understand good storytelling. You seriously can't act like having a character who becomes important to the plot show up only when they become important without any build up or foreshadowing good writing. Nor does having of the one of the most significant characters getting killed off without it being shown.

Yeah between nearly drowning and the knife incident I think he wasn't getting paid enough for it but then again this is Hollywood they probably screwed him over with creative accounting anyways.

@JimmyThree-Balls I have made actual arguments you have not

Not really there are cases where actors do serious stunts.

@DT-hy6px Yeah he had a lot crap while filming. The fight with the lead Uruh-Kai Lurtz from the end of the first film had Vigo getting hit for real as the actor playing Lurtz couldn't see crap because of the make-up and the scene with the throwing knife Aragorn dodges. That was a real knife Vigo blocked and wasn't supposed to be aimed at him. The script called for it to be lodged into a tree but the actor missed it because of the make-up. Viggo also nearly drown during the scene in the Two Towers where Aragorn falls into a river and is believed dead.

@thalanoth It was the least of problems. He had two near-death experiences on set.

Except to use your LOTR analogy the ending of Game of Thrones makes no sense. Aragorn became king his arc was about him eventually taking the throne and Frodo went with the elves as his arc was building up to that.

@ugandanknuckle505 My point is that even the reason that they didn't it to be like LOTR isn't a good excuse for the infamous ending of season 8 as it involves two characters trading significant story arcs. It is lazy to swap the arcs.

@WokeBegone True. I mentioned in other comments why I think some of the changes in the film worked most of them can be summed up as The Hobbit was children's book and didn't have the same narrative cohesion of Tolkien's later works. This was the reason the movies changed so much from the book.

@JimmyThree-Balls You are really dense if you don’t understand how storytelling works
1
@Juggs009 I never said anything resembling that
1
@JimmyThree-Balls Mind articulating why?
1
@JimmyThree-Balls Then why don't you articulate your opinions.

@LordZedz Not really a near-death expierence.
