  1. The book banning thing is stupid to me. Public schools have always banned literature they felt shouldn’t be in libraries but it’s only recently that banning certain books has been a big issue. And my position is public schools and libraries can either refuse to include certain books they choose or they can’t. If they can’t ban books, that means any books so if Maus, a graphic novel that is about the Holocaust and explicitly said by the author as being not for kids is allowed to be every elementary school, than the Chicago public library can’t pull Dr. Seuss books from shelves over alleged racism (Seuss made some racist cartoons in World War II but so was everyone back then and he wrote Horton Hears A Who as an allegory for Japan’s occupation as an atonement). You can’t have it both ways.
