  1. What you wrong about? The claim of softening of French culture isn't what caused their defeat in World War II quite the opposite. The narrative comes from the French Vichy puppet regime. France itself mostly suffered from basing their plan of attack on captured German documents and assuming they wouldn't change the plans from that or that they wouldn't attempt to go through the Ardennes which was seen for a long time as being impassible for any military.
