@imyoursuperbeast8220 Funny thing most people don’t know about that claim. It came from a court case saying the First Amendment wasn’t absolute in war-time.

@@yujirohanmaisbestdadBecause women earned it.

@peppermintpig974 It is even more BS as that case I mentioned was overturned decades later.
2
No not even law abiding citizens will follow it as the Sheriff of Albuquerque has said their officers will not enforce this law on the basis of it being unconstitutional.
2
@danielbyrne5402 Yes because the sheriff has said they will not enforce this order.
2
It isn’t legal.

@mattmurphy7030 That was never how voting rights were earned.
1
@mattmurphy7030 Except that is a load of crap. Voting was originally a right restricted to land-owning men in the United States who paid taxes. The land-owning requirement was abolished nationwide in 1858. The 15th Amendment made it illegal to restrict the vote on the basis or race and the 19th Amendment passed after Women served in the important roles in factories and other duties during World War I was passed in 1921. It didn't have anything to do with picketing. And it never had anything to do with the draft. The draft is a completely separate concept utterly divorced from suffrage.

@mattmurphy7030 Evidently you don't understand history having not cited this quote. And you are taking it out of context. Voting is a citizen's responsibility as is the draft (barring exceptions which don't impact one's suffrage we never banned contentious objectors from voting.) but one doesn't guarantee the other.

@joelsefur666 If I remember right land owning women were widows who didn’t remarry yet. Once they got remarried (which was the norm) they wouldn’t be voting anymore.

I hope this comment is a joke.

@srb2591 Their current law means this would also impact legal gun owners.
1
I mean the last time a state tried to leave it didn’t end well.
1
No they will claim it is proof they need to ban guns even more.

Nah that is what Adolf did. Stain already lived in a nation where Lenin stripped everyone of their rights. Stalin just took advantage of being given the position of General Secretary (read the person who’s job is to appoint the other positions of the Politburo) to pack the upper ranks with his cronies and make General Secretary the de-facto leader of the Soviet Union.
1
@benfaunce7496 My point was Stalin didn’t strip people of their rights as nobody had any rights under Communism.
1
But they are their own nations with their own laws. So this executive order wouldn’t impact them.
1
No it isn’t the teenagers that skews it. It includes 18, 19 and 21 year olds which skews it significantly because of inner city gang violence.
1
I am pretty sure it is the opposite and only those two counties can’t carry.

As Mark Twain once said. There are three types of lies. Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics.
