It Follows wasn’t good because it was an STD allegory but because the monster was intelligent, couldn’t be stopped, took the appearance of friends, only the protagonist could see it, and it generally had the traits of all great horror monsters which is an implacable force of nature that couldn’t stop.

  12. And the Dukes of Hazzard a show that is hard to find and watch nowadays because of a car wasn’t racist at all. The main recurring black character was Sheriff who unlike Hazzard County Sheriffs is quite competent

  17. That kinda went away for psychological thrillers in the 90’s like the Blair Witch Project or a film this is frequently compared to Lakeview Terrace with Samuel L. Jackson not saying these are bad movies of course but the genre has mostly done a shift from masked killers to supernatural beings that don’t always directly harm the main cast but instead the horror comes from the tension that there is something out there stalking them. It is kind of a return to form as the best scenes to me in the original Halloween were the ones where Micheal was stalking Lorie in the middle of the day. It plays on the classic feeling you get when you feel like you are being watched by something waiting to strike.

  18. That is basically the plot of Hot Fuzz a great parody of both cop movies and action movies. The protagonist thinks that all the murders in the town are done as part of a real estate scam but they were actually killed by the NWA for insanely petty reasons such as a journalist who screws up spelling all the time, Underage drinkers and anyone else who they think would hurt the town’s reputation and it chances to win village of the year.

  21. This is like that John Travolta movie the Fanatic which was a poorly done modern horror film that was done far better by the classic Steven King film Misery
