  11. Nah it is a tale of British incompetence. Things could have gone much better if the Brits stayed to make sure the UN resolution of how their old mandate was partitioned was followed through. Instead they left one of the biggest political powder kegs since the Balkans and left their weapons there to boot. It’s either incompetence or they wanted a war.

There was two state plan where the Jewish and Arab populations (Palestinian wasn’t a distinct ethnic group yet) had their own territories and the areas around Jerusalem (read: the most important city in the history of the Abrahamic Religions) was an international zone belonging to no one. The UK left their mandate without enforcing the UN-authorized partition plan and left their military equipment behind. If the Brits didn’t want this to turn into a race war, they did bad job trying to prevent it.

Not simping for China’s actions but Inner Mongolia exists because the regional leaders wanted to remain with the Republic of China in hopes of another dynasty rising to control China. Then the Communist Chinese under Mao forced the Republic off the mainland.
