  3.  @jp1135  The 30's was the time of The Great Depression the Dust Bowl, the Second Sino-Japanese War (or as Japan calls it "The China Incident") the Chinese Civil War, the Arab Revolt. I would say it is overall a pretty crappy time to live.

  9. The Succession was the result of fears of Emancipation. And most primary sources support it was about the South wanting to keep Slavery. The War was a big self-fulfilling prophecy. The most likely outcome had there not been the war was a process of gradual emancipation which would have the slave owners be compensated by the government. Then they decided they didn't like the presence of a military fort in the bay of Charelatteville and they lost everything.
