  1. Actually Sean Assault Rifle has a fixed definition. Assault Weapon is the nebulous term. Assault rifle is defined as a select-fire weapon that can fire an intermediate cartridge. That said the weapon looks like LMG based on the apparent bipod a Thompson loos very different as the fore end is two short to be a Thompson.

  3. It looked like a bipod was added on. I think maybe an M60 or 249. Certainly not a Thompson.
