Really? There is a law mandating people wear seatbelts and nobody complains.

It is more Chernobyl than anything.

@mongoose6685 We have ballistic air defenses for that.
1
@mongoose6685 Except we haven't any of those scenarios play out with nuclear reactors. In fact we had a close call in England where joint reactor project with the US had a fire but it didn't do anything significant because they took the extra precaution of putting air filters that blocked most of the radiation.

Which is minimal and carbon neutral.
1
Yep radiation is pretty damn important our main source is the sun
1
Except that isn't really true. Pripyat is still mostly habitable.
1
@ShunTachibana Well Fukushima was hard to avoid as Japan is on the ring of fire. Telling Japan to not build on a fault line is like telling someone to fly to moon with skateboard. Also the Tsumnami did far more damage.
1
@codynieman3729 Well there are people that live in the outskirts not to mention the animal life, and the people who make sure Pripyat looks like it did at the time of the evacuation because there are spots you can tour in the city.
1
Chernobyl was the result of a design flaw which was never an issue with American reactors as recognized the problem long before they did and never built reactors like they did.
1
@dycedargselderbrother5353 I would point out Chernobyl had a bad reactor design and a bad administration and Fukushima's problem was caused by a tsunami that caused more damage to the country than the reactor did washing away the back-up generators that were supposed to keep the thing under control. The malpractice is just a case of whataboutism
1
@ShunTachibana We are talking about safety records
1
And Russia isn't going to stop with Cremeria. The only good thing that could happen is if the sarcophagus around the Chernobyl reactor breaks while Russia is in charge making it their problem to fix.
1
It wasn't the atomic bomb but Chernobyl that caused nuclear energy to get a bad name.
1
Most plants have manual failsafes. They aren't having computers run everything
1
@mikeg8543 Not really a risk of cyber-attacks. The reactors are just controlled by computers you have manual overrides.
1
The fire in a crowded theater is a logical fallacy.
1
@user-tx2dc3vm7m Except you had to move the goalposts by saying falsely in this comment but not in your original post.
1
@user-tx2dc3vm7m No you haven’t you didn’t have falsely shout in your original comment.
1
Yes people died from the riots last summer.
1
That was a combination of bad management typical with communist regimes which had a reactor operating outside of its sets parameters and a design flaw with Soviet reactors that only exists in them because other nations are smarter than that. Also, Chernobyl being one of only three significant incidents over the past half century is a good testament to how safe nuclear energy is.
1
No it is a platform there are limits to what it can do.
1
That is what people who have sponser do. They just read a script.
1
No he is right. Name one nuclear disaster aside from Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, or Fukushima.
1
No he does. The big nuclear disasters were isolated incidents thanks some questionable reactor design (the main issues being problem exclusively for Soviet designs not American ones) for Chernoboyl combined with bad management, and Fukushima was caused a tsunami.
