  1. From an analytical point of view, I’ve been surprised that Russia hasn’t attacked the ports in force before now. It’s always been their best escalatory option with respect to results versus consequences. Apparently they were saving it as a retaliatory move so that it seems less escalatory in context, and the Kerch bridge attack was the opportunity.

  3. The attacks of last spring seemed weaker and more sporadic. Either the Russians capabilities/ determination have increased, or the attacks last year were diversionary.
