  1. Not making any judgement about whether this is actually what it is purported to be. Historically, it’s fairly rare for one or a few soldiers to survive an attempt to surrender in combat. Most survivors of surrenders were groups or units that had some parley or at least communication with the enemy facing them before surrendering.
