  1. First line of Joe Barnes’ story from yesterday: “Putin ally’s long-term animosity towards Ukraine saw him veto a €50 billion package of support – and walk away with €10 billion”. So he abstained from the years-long EU membership process, probably to get parliamentary cover on an eventual veto. Then he levered €10 billion for Hungary, and blocked €50 billion for Ukraine. Scholz rightly lauded for a canny maneuver to begin a decade/decades long process, but overall, qui bono here?
