  2. The statements from the leaks align pretty closely with my own conclusions drawn from various Western analysts. How does Ukraine get across the Perekop, after fighting their way there? The statements about the Russians being limited to T-64/72’s is incorrect. Recent satellite data shows that Russia still has ~900 T-80 and later just in their depots, as well as just short of 2000 T-72 variants. How many better tanks they still have in units, and how quickly these reserve vehicles can be brought to service is the question. Also, with Ukraine on the offensive, the ratio of casualties will shift, and Ukrainian attempts to advance with armor will run into the same problem of dense ATGM defenses that the Russians faced, not to mention the problems associated with attacking into the worlds largest artillery park. Ukraine has a long and costly path to victory. It is possible and desirable, but it is also dependent on continued heavy gifts of materiel from the West. Even with this, what Ukraine will need most is something the west cannot provide - more Ukrainian soldiers. A Russian political collapse or an armistice is more likely than Ukraine recovering all of their territory including Crimea.
