Bruce Lee was very great but always learning and advancing himself in martial arts. He would have been the greatest if he lived longer to then publicly display himself as a fighter

SandaBoxing there are actual fighters that vouch for Bruce and they didn’t gain a profit or anything from praising him but continued with their martial arts and taught what they learned and were enthusiasts about fighting and about how legit Bruce Lee was

lucas costa no one believes Bruce was invincible but was a very skilled fighter mentally and physically. Him learning and training his mind and body for fighting really shows that he can actually fight plus how smooth and fast his movements were showed he was the real deal. You have professional fighters that can’t hit as accurately or well controlled as Bruce Lee. He literally had the best control over how he exerted his body’s strength and movement. Mix thag with martial arts perfecting and you got someone who can walk what they talk. How great he was is debatable but when there are professionals that are much bigger than him compare him to being on their level then that means he was more than show

I would say Bruce against Gene in a fight is 50/50. Bruce has amazing speed and power but he lacks grappling by a huge margin when compared to Gene which is why he wanted to learn it from Gene. If Bruce couldn’t strike Gene and knock him down before he grapples him Bruce would lose by submission. I am a huge fan of Bruce but know he was a striking fighter with hardly any grappling experience. Even Lee acknowledges that he has to better himself to achieve te greatness he was after when he lived and him learning grappling was a small step to better his fighting style. He had way more to add to his JKD and really hadn’t perfected it but learned a lot throughout his time creating it

A.J. Hart nothing wrong with challenging it but you cannot disprove it nor I can prove it. It’s either you believe o don’t believ. I know he isn’t a god but was great in what he did. Also he slowed down at those camera speeds and wasn’t going at his full speed. On another note Bruce was humble about his skill and even admitted he isn’t the fastest and has met people who move faster than him at striking. How great he was is unknown but people who follow and implement his mentality excel greatly in what the desire to achieve

A.J. Hart no buying into hype but recognizing his greatness. Like I said nothing can be proven on both sides only speculation. Were he still alive then the debates would be more properly settled

Mike Sweeney I said it’s 50/50. Some fighters can get around a grappler and hit them or bay them away as well to wear them out. Also some grapplers can get around strikers and are swift on their feet and can manipulate people hitting them to put them in a hold. I recognize Bruce is great and skilled but so is Gene but in a way that can counter strikes so it can go either way for both of them

Sandy Cortez Bruce at the time wanted to practice grappling and knew Gene was an expert at it so he tried grappling with him when he is far outclassed in that category
2
Mike Sweeney Bruce Lee was an innovator and also seen all types of fighting as a way of being flexible against every type of fighter so he wanted grappling even though it is something he knows little about
2
Chen Michael idk. He is regarded by actual world martial artists as great and even those that publicly praise him say he beat them easily when they are professional fighters and are heavyweights as well
2
Sandy Cortez if we’re talking about a real fight between Bruce and Lebell it would be 50/50. Bruce has his strikes but Lebell is great at grappling. Whoever has the upper hand in their first attack will win. Also listen to what I said about his encounter with Lebell. It was to learn grappling when he was practicing with it not an actual fight between the two

Sandy Cortez Mayweather is undefeated from technical fights which means by running away and winning by most punches landed. No actual knock out or actually attempting to put up a fight

streetsweeper49 and it wouldn’t be a boxing match either.

Jeramy Steve winning a majority of your fights by decision isn’t being a top boxer. That’s a top technical fighter. Which means the fight technically didn’t have a winner but the one who hit and dodged the most is the technical winner

During that incident with Gene Lebelle. Bruce Lee wanted to put grappling into his fighting style and he wanted Gene to try and put him in a hold he couldn’t escape which he did and gave Bruce a better insight into what he needed to learn to perform grappling more

sandtrain most MMA fighters are just ground and pound fighters and throw a flurry of strikes missing most of the time or hoping it lands. Sure they are great fighters but only when they land a hit which they throw around like a wildcat

A.J. Hart so Jim Kelly is a liar?
