Pretty much. He sees life as purposeless and his only real desire is to eliminate life before his own eyes

Matthew5to8 that is ridiculous. How would he view small talk as evil when he just doesn’t like small talk because it is pointless to him? He seen it as nothing but an inconvenience and like anyone who is inconvenienced, they become annoyed and want to rid themselves of the problem. He made the coin toss as a game of deciding the man’s fate when the guy was a purposeless fool who had nothing much to live for, in his eyes

@cottonballs185 he gave Llewelyn his word that his wife would be killed. He has a strict code to himself that he follows. The same as taking up a job is giving his word. He is a committed and determined individual and doesn’t need to cover up his tracks when he knows how to get by unnoticed

Matthew5to8 I read it and it makes no sense starting and your addition to defending it is even more ridiculous. “He believes small talk is evil” you seriously said that then added more nonsense. A 12 year old would make more sense than your analogy

Yes

In his own twisted manner he was hinting towards that but Anton just uses that to give him a reason to kill someone who crosses him when he could have passed by

Matthew5to8 not non-sensical at all. Take constructive criticism more easily and don’t be so offended. Seriously, you are making the conversation look worse for you

Matthew5to8 only a fool would say that. I don’t know how you can even think of your comments as sensible when you literally made zero sense with your first

Matthew5to8 I can see him being annoyed by small talk but it being seen as “evil” is ridiculous. Meaningless or unnecessary yes but not evil. If anything Anton avoids small talk as the reason he lives is to annihilate others. He is basically a born killer. He has no ties to hold him back nor any compassion or regrets in his actions. He just goes to what he is focused on and executes what he is bound to do. His moral code is his duty of elimination. Anything that distracts or even deters him from his duty will be destroyed. The guy kept prying and trying to ask Anton about his business and where he came from as if it was of any importance to him. Seeing that Anton sees the guy as wanting to get in his way and someone who has set in motion a judgment upon them. Anton has a mission but knows that it was by chance that the guy was fated in his hands so he gave the guy a chance to put fate in his own hands by a simple coin toss as he wasn’t living of any importance, not to mention Anton seen it as doing him a favor as well whether the guy lived or died. Anton just handles what is given to him and deals with it in his own set of consequences

@Josh729J very astute observation

Tony Montana is just the result of someone whose world is violent trying to make a living. He tried living through work but it just isn’t in him to serve in a job that hardly gets him anywhere. He wants things fast and as such is destined to live a short life from such actions
1
@corbeau-_- that is more or less an accurate depiction of Anton’s purpose here

@chuckn4851 where at?
1
@bluceree7312 Anton doesn’t care about killing anyone even if it may bring attention. His job is to kill and he knows the stakes. It’s just he doesn’t like people prying into his business.

Anton Chigurh is the embodiment of a true antagonist. He is taking a job to live his life purpose of eliminating others and the money for each job helps him to maintain his ambiguity from law enforcement and being caught or traced
