I thought they switched from aluminum to fiberglass because the aluminum blades simply cost too much. If a product is prohibitively expensive, you find cheaper alternatives. I assume they did a cost analysis for usage and replacement and found the fiberglass composite blades more cost effective. Is the leading edge wear and delamination the reason for blades only lasting 8-12 years instead of the projected 20 years? Has the Industry taken the reduced lifetime of the blades into consideration? I will assume, like you, that the recycle/reuse cost was never a consideration of the Industry or the Government when considering the carbon cost of Wind Power. The Solar Industry and the EV Industry have never taken notice of such issues either. The state of the environment is not their concern, only profits are.
