  1. It was the Irish Government who INSISTED on a 'soft' border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. They thought that this would promote Irish 'unification'. The EU spoke out loud to say that they would 'weaponise' Northern Ireland to crowbar Britain back into the EU. So, the Irish Government got what they wanted. Be careful what you wish for?
