  2. Off his rocker. Sectioned - ie in voluntarily detained in a mental hospital under a Section of the Mental Health Act (1983? - or has it been updated?). Different Sections of the Act specify different lengths of time during which a potentially dangerous person can be detained. In the USA it is 'being committed' - to a mental hospital.
