He could have stopped the Post Office's private prosecution of the sub-postmistresses and sub-postmasters, as having no merit, and instructed the police to investigate to see where the proposed stolen money had gone. IT WAS, IN FACT, INVISIBLE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO STOLEN MONEY. Then prosecutions could have been brought on the basis of EVIDENCE (none). It was in his power, in fact it was HIS JOB at the time, to do this.​ @kurtgodel5236
