I believe the bomber originally asked the taxi-driver to take him to Liverpool Cathedral. If this had happened, the bomber would have entered the Cathedral just in time for 11 am. It would have been packed. It was the heroic taxi-driver who became suspicious and drove into the Hospital car park instead, then jumping out and locking the doors of the vehicle. It is disgraceful that he has not been awarded a George Medal, as he probably saved hundreds of lives and prevented many more injuries.
