That's why Shamima Begum is stuck in a refugee camp in Syria. She had dual British and Bangladeshi nationality (her father is Bangladeshi, and now lives in Bangladesh with his new family). This gave the British the opportunity to divest her of her British nationality, which could not have been done if she only had British nationality (it would be against International Law). She officially has the right to go to Bangladesh. But the Bangladeshis say that if she lands there, they will arrest her and she will probably be hanged.
