  1. Hospital consultants do not 'moonlight' in their work for the NHS. If a consultant is working full-time for the NHS, they have a full-time contract and a full-time NHS salary. If they work for four-ninths of the week for the NHS, they get paid by the NHS pro-rata. What they do with the rest of the time is up to them - whether it be in Harley Street, Marbella or the golf course.
