I think that, perhaps the mother of a young man should give him a talk when he hits the age of 30, if he is still living like an unattached carefree adolescent. We have seen men suddenly realise when they hit 50 and don't see any little replicas of themselves strutting around, start in a panic to look for someone to have a child with. They then discover that the only women they can actually talk to and who understand what they are saying, are women of their own age who, while they may be splendid in almost every other way, are past the age of child-bearing. Women who are of child-bearing age will probably be young enough to be their daughter and, unless the men are very rich and/or famous, they will be regarded by these young women as old codgers who remind them of their father. Being a parent does not suit everyone, and I think it is better not to be a parent than to be a bad parent. However, it might be as well to think about one's later life, and perhaps pay attention to women of child-bearing age while there is time.
