  2. I have heard that a few months ago several hundred young women came to Britain from Nigeria to be hospital nurses. They were not qualified, presenting to Human Resources Departments in the hospitals they were applying to certificates of qualification that were forged or bought. Apparently, there was no checking of supposed qualifications. I have heard - I have not fact-checked this - that the response of the powers-that-be to this discovery was to pay for these young women to have training in nursing in this country, while British applicants to the profession were being turned away.
