  1. Rudakubana is not necessarily going to be released after fifty-one and a half years. That is the length of time, starting from the date of sentencing, after which he becomes qualified to APPLY for parole. This is not automatically granted, and the judge in the case said that he thought it probable that it would not be, and that the sentence would, in effect, be for the rest of his life.
