  1. What gets my goat is that the Cross of Saint Andrew has been appropriated by the Scottish National Party as its symbol, when it is actually the symbol of Scotland.

  2. Putney Bridge is the only bridge in England that has a church at each end - All Saints Church at the Fulham end, and the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin at the Putney end (Putney Parish Church). Btw, the latter was the church where the Putney Debates were held between Oliver Cromwell's Party and the Levellers, who wanted universal male franchise, in October/November 1647. It dates from the 12th century. Each church flies Saint George's Cross from its tower.
