  1. Gender dysphoria IS a mental illness. True gender dysphoria sufferers, whose anxiety can ONLY be alleviated by extreme medical and surgical procedures, are vanishingly rare*. If someone over the age of 23 *presents themselves for such treatment and, after thorough and comprehensive psychological investigation, is judged by medical experts to be truly gender dysphoric, then it may be rational to go ahead with 'transition'. It might also be wise to have such a self-presenting patient listen to, and possibly interact with, detransitioners. However, such people are *vanishingly rare*.
