  1. I have not seen any notices on the London Tube telling us not to look at each other. No-one has ever looked at anyone else on the Tube, in any case. It is just not and never has been done - just as standing on the right-hand side of escalators is ingrained from the earliest age - it would be physically impossible to do this unless one was Nicola Sturgeon. Buses and bus stops are entirely different.

  2. Phone signals on the London Tube: you get a lot, as a lot of the London 'Underground' is above ground. Seriously, I have never seen such a 'don't stare' notice on any Tube line. Btw, Berkshire is in 'the country'.
