Feminists should not be wearing nail polish as, I understand, this was invented in the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul in the 16th century to be worn by the concubines in the harem to indicate that they were menstruating, so that when the Sultan came to choose one to sleep with that night, he would not be embarrassed.
