It might actually be no bad thing for children under age 12 to contract Covid 19, providing they do not have particular medical vulnerabilities and they are closely monitored, and providing that the adults they will have contact with have been fully immunized. Since children appear to be less vulnerable to serious Covid disease, experiencing a mild Covid illness could give them a good level of immunity.
