Don't forget that it was Trump who initiated negotiations with the Taliban - who does this? - , repeating the mantras 'no more foreign wars', 'bring the boys home', which apparently were popular sound bites, though devoid of meaning in the context of Afghanistan. Twenty years of effort, blood and treasure on the part of NATO have been thrown away and teŕrorism has been released on the World. There was no binary choice between staying in Afghanistan until doomsday and handling it over to terrorists. I have heard a British general refer to the Taliban as 'just country boys'! This was after their cynical press conference. I have heard another British general say that 'we must bring the Taliban in from the cold'. Just saying this counts as treason in my book. Biden should certainly be court martialled if he were capable of standing trial. But he has dementia and should be in sheltered accommodation. The fault lies with the grandees of the Democratic Party who put him forward as a candidate when they must have known the true situation. He should not even have been in Congress at all. There had not been a NATO death in Afghanistan for 18 months. It was a slow process because it was starting from such a low baseline, but Afghanistan would eventually have become safe - after its present corrupt and useless politicians had gone. I have noticed that Americans never mention NATO. It is apparently only American troops who fought in Afghanistan. There is never a mention of the reason for being in Afghanistan: NATO's Article 5 being implemented after 9/11, which states that an attack on one member is an arrack on all.
