One of the objections to Mike Pence who, as Vice President of the USA, was influential, is that he kept asserting that it was physically impossible for a woman to become pregnant through rape. This is not factually correct.

If I hear Callum define aborting a non-viable foetus as 'murdering a baby' once more I shall have to double my blood-pressure medication. As I have already advised, please see El Salvador's current policy on this - *PLEASE*. The 'mother of three young children bleeding to death on the kitchen floor' scenario is not apocryphal - see writings of old (probably now deceased) gynaecologists. Souls: I think Callum needs to speak to a spiritual advisor about this. Perhaps it is time for him to be received into the Roman Catholic Church - which would be OK with me. As a hard agnostic, I don't feel we have the right to be certain about very much - certainly not about atheism or the existence of a soul (do cats have them, btw, or are you Lotuseaters all strict Cartesian Dualists who believe that non-human animals are merely 'clocks')?

So you don't like 'The Handmaid's Tale', Lotuseaters. That is your prerogative. Look around the World, please. Fiction is by definition imaginitive. It can be an extension of reality in order to illustrate current reality. Of course you will get Muslim girls defending hijabs and the like. They are afraid to say otherwise. There is also identification with the aggressor (ask Josh if you don't know what this is). Burkas (not hijabs) are individual prisons for women. They are very difficult to wear, dangerous because you can't see out of them to cross the road safely, for example.
