  1. The Suffragists wanted no violence in the campaign for women's Suffrage. The Suffragettes started a campaign of bombing Government property, avoiding killing or injuring people - although this will probably happen if the campaign continues. When the First World War began, both groups called a moratorium on political activity for the duration of the War, to concentrate on contributing to the war effort. Many of them worked in munitions factories, where the death and injury rate was high.
