  1. I suppose a person could kill themselves with any drug if they deliberately overdosed on it. Presumably you could also do it with blood-pressure-lowering drugs. There is reactive depression. There is also post-viral syndrome which very much resembles depression. Does this not have a purely chemical cause? You can't tell someone to snap out of that, or treat it with psychotherapy, and it has nothing to do with their lifestyle or circumstances.
